SJ Mayor Chuck Reed announced today that he will seek $14 billion from the Federal bailout for rapid transit expansion and to attract clean-tech businesses. He will join with other cities to seek this request.
Meanwhile, the good folks in San Mateo County -- and dozens of other local government agencies -- look at the Mayor of San Jose and ask, "what took you so long?" They did the same thing about a month ago...check it out -- here is the write up from our sister blog: Watch Dog San Mateo.

As a side note -- why make an announcement like this on a Friday afternoon? Friday afternoons are usually reserved for stories you want to bury. Why does the Mayor want to bury this story?
