In the Alum Rock Union School District, which overlaps San Jose's Council District 8, some voters will have the opportunity to vote for "Herrera" twice. Rose Herrera is competing with Pat Waite to fill the shoes of outgoing Vice Mayor Dave Cortese while former brother-in-law Esau Herrera is making a bid to return to the School Board. Herrera resigned from the School Board in 2005 after 15 years as a combative figure.
Not to be outdone by Los Gatos, Campbell police released a photo of a well-dressed young man, sans ski mask, who held up Guaranty Bank and is suspected of robbing a WaMu in Pleasanton last week.
