Morning News Round-Up -- 3.5.10: Carr vs. Rosen - Round 1

Jeff Rosen and Dolores Carr squared off for the first time yesterday, and there is more than one reason that they are not considered "civil" attorneys... They got right into it over ethics, high profile cases, ethics, politics, and ethics. It was nasty, but it was fun... June is far away from now, so we can expect more sniping, more yelling, and generally more political chaos. It must be so interesting to be working in the DA's office right now...

There was a shooting at the Pentagon Metro Station yesterday in Northern Virginia... you probably knew that. But when did you know that the shooter is from Hollister? The Morgan Hill Times knew it almost immediately...

What everyone (especially NIMBYs on the Peninsula) has been waiting for... an updated report from the High-Speed Rail Authority. The update? Nothing has really changed with the alignment. Sorry Menlo Park, Atherton, Palo Alto, et al.

There is a growing and disturbing trend of sexual assaults around San Jose State... four to be exact.

The American Leadership Forum is hosting a community coversation about the San Jose Police, the independent police auditor, and other warm, fuzzy stuff... but the great part of this story is that the online version is (or was) screwed up last night... Check out the sentence in the middle of the story: Police said both men had used knives to menace those they lived with, but critics questioned whether the incidents could have been resolved with less force. One of these sentences is doing its own thing, one of these sentences just doesn't belong...

This web hiccup comes after some weird hiccups on the Merc's new San Mateo County Times website this week pointed out by Watch Dog San Mateo...

This will go over big with public safety unions in Silicon Valley: Gilroy City Councilmember Perry Woodward wants to do away with binding arbitration for Gilroy firefighters...

Have a safe weekend everyone...
